Our Teachers
Jade (Owner of Community Art and Teacher)- I started this company because I am passionate about providing an adult activity for memory care that leaves them with dignity and confidence. When my grandmother had Alzheimer's disease it bothered me so much that she was treated like a child and stripped of her dignity and low level decision making. I used to bring her to work with me at a ceramic studio called All The Hands where she would light up and flourish while painting ceramics. Limited transportation makes it difficult for elderly to go to art studios so I wanted to bring the art studio to them. Thus, the mobile art company, Community Art, was born to fulfill this need. I love my job more and more each passing day and cant imagine a more rewarding vocation. Bringing joy, companionship and new skills to people's lives is the best part of my day. Over the years we have expanded our services to include Mixed Media classes and Child Hand Print and Footprint Plaques. I have 13 years' experience teaching art and specialize in hand building and glazing techniques. I also have 9 years' experience as a caregiver for my family.
Janet (Head of Mixed Media Department and Ceramic Teacher Assistant)- I lived in Milwaukee Wisconsin for 47 years and moved to Arizona 6 years ago. I played sports in High School earned MVP in Basketball, Volleyball and Softball. I took art metals and creative art design classes which led to a few of my pieces winning awards at the Wisconsin State Fair. My hobbies include interior decorating, gardening, hiking, biking, camping and golfing. I enjoyed traveling and exploring throughout the United States. I started working part time in 2000 as a companion to the elderly specializing in activities for clients with dementia. The activities vary according to each individual's interest, capabilities and needs, including reading, art, games, etc. Art has always been a passion of mine and I am so glad to be able to share it with my students and clients.
Charlie (Teacher Assistant)- I have 9 years' experience teaching art to mentally challenged children and adults. My calm personalty and deep voice helps communicate effectively with memory care and hearing impaired people. I love art and I am constantly improving my own skill as well as my students. Art has so many benefits its hard not to be passionate about it.
